Laptops don’t come a regular desktop computer mouse. Laptops have pointing devices such as touch pads and pointing sticks. We will be talking today about the laptops that have a touch-pad as their pointing device and most of all; we will be speaking about how to clean the laptops’ touch-pad. Cleaning your laptop touch-pad helps the motion and response of the touch-pad.
Touch pads are sealed devices, you will not need to worry about dirt or dust getting in your laptop through any crevices. But you as a user will probably make your touch-pad dirty, even if you wash your hands often. You may not be aware, as clean as you may be, your fingers are actually greasy, while working with your laptops’ touch-pad the grease gets on it, making it more difficult to use after a while.
So, once in a while you have to clean the laptop touch-pad. This can be easily done with a damp cloth with a bit of alcohol. Or use a small amount of window cleaner. Actually almost any glass cleaning solution will do the trick. However, if you don’t know for sure that you can safely clean your laptop’s touch-pad with the solution you have, try it first on a different surface with a similar texture as your touch-pad.
Don’t push very hard when cleaning the surface of the touch-pad since the laptop’s touch-pad is a fragile device that may suffer injuries while cleaning it. Carefully wipe the dirt off the touch-pad of your laptop without pushing.
After cleaning it, if the touch-pad was seriously wet, and the touch-pad does not respond in the normal way, a day or two of non-use may cure it. However, be careful not to get to that point when you break your laptop’s touch-pad while cleaning it.
